Splatter + Matte Coat Comparison

First up is my pretty splatter:

Dark Purple Base: Zoya - Pinta
Light Purple: Zoya - Marley
Medium Purple: Zoya -Tru

Now for the Matte Top Coat comparison:

Can you see a difference in the matte top coats?
I can't either.
Pointer and Ring: NYC - Matte Me Crazy ($2.00)
Middle and Pinky: Essie - Matte About You ($8.00)

Save yourself some money and buy NYC.

Love, Bethany

  1. lol I think most mattes are about the same. I use Warpaints Beauty matte which I also got for $2. Love the Zoya splatter! They're so pretty, but I know next time I'm in Ulta I'll see them and think "Purple creams? meh...." LOL Super splatter job. What kind of straw did you use?

  2. Ooooh I love it with the matte topcoat! Great tip about the NYC matte coat, when I use up my Essie I will definitely be picking that one up instead! I hear NYC has a great quick-dry topcoat as well.

  3. One matte that isn't the same - CND Super Matte. It's AWFUL. /rage

I really like the splatter. I've been wanting to try one for a while, just haven't remembered to pick up a straw.

  7. Love it! The combination of purples is really great. And I feel kind of clueless to ask this, but how do you actually do a splatter mani?

    1. Omg I'm such an idiot for not putting that in the post! You use a straw! You dip it in the polish and then blow it onto your nails. It can get messy, but it's so fun! I like to use tiny straws, because they're more precise. I used a drink stirrer for this one! Sorry I didn't explain in the post!

  11. So glad I'm following you now! I'm all about saving money, and now I'm just bummed that I spent $4 on my Hard Candy Matte when NYC sells it for half. Sigh.

  15. Pinta is, like, my favorite dark purple. I wear it a LOT (which is weird for me, since I adore bright colors), usually with sparkles over it.
